What to expect

Deciding to seek counselling can be a difficult decision and I understand this. I offer a free initial 15 minute appointment usually by phone or online to see if we both feel we can work together. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance to me, and I work in line with GDPR, please see my privacy policy.

At your first session (whether it is face-to-face, online or telephone) I will outline confidentiality and agree with you how our sessions will work. We will get to know each other before working on any issues in depth. It is important that you feel safe and trust me and its important I get to understand you and why you have sought counselling.

I understand that counselling is not always easy and the process can be difficult. Counselling works best if you are open and say how you really feel. I guarantee to provide you with a safe space and time to do this work. I like to review progress every few sessions with you to ensure you are getting what you need from the process and that you are happy to continue.

When you feel you are ready to end that is fine, we can discuss this and find the right time for your last session.

Some of the areas that I can work with you on include, but are not limited to:

  • Bereavement and loss

  • Abuse

  • Childhood sexual abuse

  • Abusive relationships

  • Trauma

  • Domestic violence

  • Coercive control
